It contains every album produced under their contract to [[Columbia Records]] (''[[Blue Öyster Cult (album)|Blue Öyster Cult]]''–''[[Imaginos]]''), as well as two compilation discs and a set of digital downloads. It was released on October 30, 2012 by the Legacy Recordings subsidiary of Sony Music.

''[[Rarities]]'' is a compilation of demos, live performances, and pre-BÖC material that had yet to see an official release. ''[[Radios Appear: The Best of the Broadcasts]]'' is a compilation of several live performances from the height of their career.

''[[Harvester of Lives]]'' is a four-concert set of digital downloads available via a one-use code to those who purchased the collection. The concerts, though incomplete, took place from 1980 to 1986 and total five hours of material.

== The Columbia Albums Collectiön Sampler ==
Prior to the release of the box set, a promotional sampler CD was released containing selected tracks from throughout the compilation. It also featured a track not found in the final box set, a cover of The Who's "Substitute" performed at the Civic Center in Providence, RI in 1980.
